Christmas Truce – Christmas Markets
3 days/2 night from only £173pp
On Christmas Eve 1914 guns fell silent and the sounds of Christmas carols could be heard from the German lines. Curious soldiers on both sides peered above the trenches. What happened next is arguably one of the most extraordinary events in World History and has been described as “a moment of humanity in a time of carnage”.
This tour, running throughout December, focuses on the Christmas Truce of 1914. See the site of the truce in Messines during your specialist guided tour and torchlit remembrance walk. Groups can also enjoy the atmospheric traditional Christmas Markets and ice rink on the town square in Ypres.
