This tour encourages students to reflect on the events that happened in Nazi-occupied Europe and the Nazi plan to settle the ‘Jewish question’.
All workshops use original artefacts, documentary sources, photographs and film from the Collections and interaction with a survivor brings an emotional and haunting perspective .
Day 1, Travel from school to arrive in London around midday. Visit the National Archives for a 2 hr ‘Britain & the Holocaust’ workshop. Working along a timeline students will examine whether some of the atrocities could have been avoided by Allied intervention (suitable for Year 9 upwards). Check-in accommodation and evening meal.
Day 2, Morning visit to the Jewish Museum for the ‘Witness the Witness’ educational session. Here the students will meet and hear the testimony of a Holocaust survivor or Kindertransport refugee. Includes a Q&A session.Time allowing visit the newly refurbished Imperial War Museum’s ‘Holocaust Exhibition’ before your return to school. Return to school after lunch.
