For the first time, British students and teachers can visit the Giant Panda Research Base at Chengdu in China.
This is a unique opportunity to work with the conservation experts at the leading edge of Giant Panda conservation and captive breeding centre. The Panda Base has a captive population of 58 Giant Pandas and is a world-class research facility, environment education centre, and international eco-tourism destination. Our visit is designed by the conservational education department to help people understand and protect animals and nature, with a special focus on Giant Pandas.
During a one week stay in Chengdu, you will
- Learn about endangered species, bio-diversity and scientific research methods
- Learn about animal care, diet and husbandry
- Learn specifically how to care for giant pandas
- Help the keepers with the animals
- Explore the reserve, the natural habitat of the giant panda, with staff of the centre
- Visit other historical sites in the region
You will also learn some Chinese language and Chinese cooking.
