ICELAND

We are able to offer Introductory Tours based in Reykjavik or Island Tours, which offer an incredible experience for Geography groups. An experienced local guide accompanies the group throughout.

It is also possible to add a Study Day in Reykjavik which is made up of a lecture and sightseeing relevant to a particular topic. Current topics include 'Diverse use of Geothermal Energy in Reykjavik' and 'Environmental Policy and Sustainable Society in Action'.

  • Blue Lagoon - Located in the middle of a black lava field and full of warm mineral-rich geothermal water.
  • Great Geysir - You will see one of the most active geysirs in the area, Strokkur, spouting up to 30 metres.
  • Gulfoss - The 'Golden Waterfall', one of the most impressive waterfalls in Iceland.
  • Hveragerði - Where geothermal energy has been extensively harnessed for the greenhouse industry.
  • Jökulsárlón - A glacial lagoon with immense floating icebergs. You may choose to have a boat tour here.
  • Kario - A lake-filled extinct volcanic crater.
  • Nesjavellir geothermal station - An introduction to how Iceland utilises its geothermal energy.
  • Reykjanes Peninsula - Vast lava fields.
  • Skaftafell national park - One of Iceland's most outstanding points of natural beauty, dominated by Vatnajökull, Europe's largest ice cap.
  • Þingvellir National Park - A remarkable geological site. The canyon running through the park is actually the meeting point of two of the earth's tectonic plates.
