Berlin, the capital of Germany, contains a wide variety of sites, museums and exhibitions as reminders of the Nazi era, which the modern German state maintains for us to learn from and which will bring your course into sharp focus for your pupils.
We are able to suggest the most relevant visits for your pupils depending on which particular syllabus area you are teaching.
Day 1, Coach pick up from school. Travel to Dover for ferry to Calais. Continue overnight.
Day 2, Arrive Berlin accommodation at lunchtime. Afternoon free
Day 3, Morning guided tour of the city by coach to introduce the main sights including the Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate. Guided visit to Sachsenhause the former concentration camp.
Day 4, Morning visit to the Wannsee Conference House where in 1942 the fate of Europe’s Jews was decided. Guided visit to the exhibition German Resistance to National Socialism housed in the former Wehrmacht headquarters in the Bendlerblock.
Day 5, Morning guided visit to the exhibition Topography of Terror. Guided visit to the Holocaust Memorial and Visitor Centre. Depart Berlin.
Day 6, Morning ferry from Calais to Dover. Return to school.
